John Edgar Caterson

John Edgar Caterson is an enterprising and energetic TOP LEADERSHIP & ENTREPRENEUR EXECUTIVE who specializes in organizations focused on cultural change and business performance. He has been working with strengths in organizations since 2003, having been certified in 2006 and recertified in 2014.  

In 2008, John Edgar became one of the first Gallup Faith Field Associates and continues to serve as Gallup Faith Senior Research Advisor. He is the cultural architect of the Engage Your Strengths Program that has impacted 50,000 active duty military, veterans, and faith leaders. He co-authored Engage Your Strengths 4.0 with his longtime mentor, the late Curt Liesveld.  

John Edgar believes that there is something within our spirit that resonates with the discovery of our talents and strengths. It feels right, as though from the depths of our being we can finally shout, This is who I was created to be! This liberating experience allows us to develop and move toward, living out our talents — God-given ways of thinking, feeling, or behaving. It also gives us permission to accept ourselves as God originally created us to be.  

He also believes we see talent in people around us every day. We can observe the patterns of thought, feeling or behavior that give them a unique edge. Sometimes, it may even seem effortless. In fact, our talents are the keys to our innate potential. When we tap into them we act with more confidence, inspiration and direction.  

John Edgar is the President/CEO of American Strengths Center - Creating Strength Based and Entrepreneur Cultures through Executive Coaching, Talent Maximizing, Leadership and Team Development, and Employee Engagement. ASC’s approach to leadership development, motivational executive coaching, consulting and workshops focus on quickly identifying leadership and team strengths and applying them to increase productivity and employee engagement. ASC specializes in helping Faith Communities leverage CSF and EP10.  

Having traveled to and coached in 50 countries, John Edgar has spoken to thousands of people from a wide variety of audiences at universities, conferences, festivals, and churches. He recently served as the Executive Director of Armed Services Ministry and served as a Senior Advisor to the Chief of Chaplains at the Pentagon. John Edgar serves as the National Director of the Re-Ignition Project and serves on multiple leadership boards including BNMI, Fundacion Ramon Pane, and John 17.  

John Edgar attended Toccoa Falls College, Princeton Theological Seminary, The University of Edinburgh in Scotland, and The Beeson International Center at Asbury Theological Seminary. He holds an undergraduate degree in Philosophy & Religion, a Master’s degree in Divinity with a concentration in Medical Ethics, was a Supervised Post-Graduate Fellow, and holds a Doctorate in Story Integration, Narrative Theology, Leadership, and Psychology.
