About Harlan Meischen

I promise curious, dispassionate, customized dialog for action. I grew up on a ranch and made a career in manufacturing (engineering, maintenance, continuous improvement, plant management, supply chain, & quality). I’ve used Six Sigma, Lean, Synchronous, and other tools. There’s a ton of resources aimed at finding incremental capacity of machines and capital assets. I see a far bigger opportunity in the untapped potential of people. For the last several years, I've been working with individuals, leaders and teams using the StrengthsFinder tool aimed at communication and productivity. Nothing happens without communication. Disengaged, unmotivated people are not productive and often counterproductive. These two principles apply at work, at home, at school and anywhere people are involved. We are each unique with our own path based on our unique combination of strengths. What if we quit trying to “fix” individuals and instead unlocked their potential and got out of the way? My approach is calm, curious, and logical. I seek clarity and understanding first, then action. When I work with individuals and/or teams I customize the approach based on the need and their definition of success. Sometimes defining success is the first goal. Embrace inquiry, encourage thought, and share knowledge.
