Mark Crouter

Mark Crouter is career and leadership coach for the MITRE Corporation. In this role, he provides strengths-based development, career, and leadership coaching to employees in support of the organization’s professional and career development programs. He is also available for life, leadership, and career coaching to individuals.  

As a coach, Mark brings to bear his extensive experience in several prior careers, including 21 years as a naval officer and aviator with a wide range of operational and staff assignments, an information technology project manager and consultant, an information security manager and practitioner, and a leader of teams ranging in size from five to two hundred. He coaches with a deep understanding of the challenges of leaders, managers, and employees.  

As an IT and cybersecurity consultant, Mark managed large and small project teams supporting government clients in federal agencies including the Departments of Defense, Homeland Security, Veterans Affairs, and Education, among others. He also led a department of fifty cybersecurity professionals supporting federal customers in multiple civilian and defense agencies.  

In addition to being a Gallup Certified Strengths Coach, Mark is a member of the International Coach Federation and holds the Associate Certified Coach credential. He is a graduate of the Georgetown University School of Continuing Studies with a Certificate in Leadership Coaching. He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Virginia, a Master of Science degree in Systems Management from the University of Southern California, and a Graduate Certificate in Information Security Management from The George Washington University. He is also a graduate of the US Naval Postgraduate School and the US Naval War College.  

Mark makes his home in Chevy Chase, Maryland, and is experienced at coaching in person, by phone or by Skype, and he welcomes opportunities to travel to other locations if desired.
